Piano'Art

Thursday 01.10.2015, 18:00

All visitors

On Thursday evenings, 17 September - 22 October 2015, from 6 to 7 pm, our visitors will be agreeably surprised by an unusual performance: as they wander through our exhibition they will be able to soak up musical improvisations by pianist Richard Rentsch. He will be playing in our display areas, improvising as the works and the surrounding Art Centre inspire him. Our visitors will thus be able to discover or re-discover “White Man, Black Man. Impressions of Africa” in a very special atmosphere.  Born in Switzerland, Richard Rentsch is a musician, composer, artistic director and music professor. He trained at the jazz school in Bern and the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, as well as the Conservatoire in Lausanne (Master), and plays in various jazz and jazz rock groups both in Switzerland and the United States. He has created a work for ballet, choir and orchestra to complete Mozart’s  Requiem (Thalia theater of Budapest and National Theater of Prague, for the "Mozart Year", 2006).
At the Agalma Foundation*, Richard Rentsch is in charge of organizing and coordinating artistic events combining music, neurosciences and psychoanalysis.  Working together with neurobiologist Pierre Magistretti and psychoanalyst François Ansermet, he has notably set up the “Music and Brain in Unconscious Waves” project consisting in analysing neuronal activity during musical improvisation.
When visitors they have finished exploring the exhibition, they can linger a little longer and take advantage of our special offer combining  the admission fee with a surprise  dinner menu at the Indigo restaurant.
*The Agalma Foundation in Geneva is devoted to research in neurosciences and psychoanalysis, and organizes mediation between scientific disciplines, art and music.
